Michael Joseph "Mike" Lozanski (January 1, 1968 – December 19, 2003) was a Canadian professional wrestler. He is well known for his time with the Universal Wrestling Association and W*ING, as the luchador enmascarado Tigre Canadiense (Spanish for "Canadian Tiger"), and in IWA Puerto Rico, the United States Wrestling Association and World Wrestling Council as Mike Anthony. Lozanski spent the majority of his career outside his native country wrestling extensively for various promotions in Japan, Europe, New Zealand, and Puerto Rico. In the late-1990s, Lozanski made brief appearances in the United States for Extreme Championship Wrestling, World Championship Wrestling and the World Wrestling Federation.

Professional wrestling career[edit]

Early career (1988-1991)[edit]

Born and raised in Calgary, Lozansky began his wrestling career in Canada wrestling in Vancouver, Winnipeg and Grand Prix Wrestling in the Maritimes. He would feud with Timothy Flowers. Also he wrestled for Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling and Canadian National Wrestling Alliance in his hometown of Calgary.[1] In 1990, Lozanski traveled to New Zealand where he appeared for promoter Steve Rickard's short-lived The Main Event sports program.[2] On January 10, 1992 he defeated Bad News Allen at Stampede.

Mexico, Japan and Puerto Rico (1991-1993)[edit]

In 1991, he went to Mexico as Tigre Canadiense for Universal Wrestling Association where he feuded with Villano I, Villano IV, and Villano V. On October 20, he lost to Villano IV in a mask vs mask best two out of three match where he took his mask off.[2] After the lost he mainly wrestled in 6 tag matches until leaving in October 1992.

Later that year in November, Lozanksy went to Japan to wrestle for New Japan Pro Wrestling. He would feud with Jushin Liger and teamed up with the Flyin Scorpio.

In April 1993, he began wrestling under the name Mike Anthony in World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico.

In June 1993 he returned to Japan wrestling for Wrestling International New Generations (W*ING) where he won the WING World Junior Heavyweight Championship defeating Thunder Como.

USWA (1993-1994)[edit]

He made his debut for United States Wrestling Association in Tennessee on July 5 losing to Brian Christopher. On August 28 he defeated Brian Christopher. He would have a short feud with Tony Falk. On October 4 he teamed up with Moondog Spike to win the USWA World Tag Team Championship defeating the Dog Catchers. The titles were vacated on October 16 when he was injured by his partner Spike and Moondog Cujo. He would later teamed up with Jeff Gaylord as they feuded with The Moondogs, PG-13 and the War Machines. On November 29 they won the USWA World Tag Team Championship as they defeated PG-13. They dropped the titles to the War Machines on December 6. His last match was on February 19, 1994 as he lost to Koko B. Ware.

International and various promotions (1994-1997)[edit]

In 1994 he returned to Mexico and Puerto Rico. He spent time in 1995 for All Japan Pro Wrestling, in 1996 Catch Wrestling Association in Germany and Tokyo Pro Wrestling.

On December 15, 1995 he returned to Stampede Wrestling for the Stu Hart 50th Anniversary Show where he teamed with King Lau as they lost to The Cuban Assassin and Gerry Morrow.[1]

He made two appearances for World Championship Wrestling in 1997. On October 10 he lost to Dean Malenko on WCW Pro and Goldberg on October 25 on WCW Saturday Night.

ECW (1998-1999)[edit]

In 1998, Lozansky began working under his real name for Extreme Championship Wrestling.[1] Made his debut on January 16 losing to Rob Van Dam. He lost Mikey Whipwreck at A Matter of Respect pay-per-view. Later he would feud with Whipwreck. Wrestled against many wrestlers like Sabu, Chris Candido, Bam Bam Bigelow and Balls Mahoney. Twice he unsuccessfully challenged Rob Van Dam for the ECW Television Championship. His last match was with John Kronus as they lost to The Dudley Boyz on January 4, 1999.

Later career (1998-2003)[edit]

He would make appearances in World Wrestling Federation with his student, Steve Boz in 1998. They would lose to Taka Michinoku and Bradshaw on June 2 WWF Shotgun Saturday Night. On October 19 they teamed with Kevin Quinn and lost to The Oddities on Monday Night Raw. Then he would appear in the independent circuit. In 2001 he returned to Mexico as Tigre Canadiense. On March 4, 2002 he lost to Val Venis on Monday Night Raw.

Personal life[edit]

Lozansky brother Chris was a wrestler. He would train Steve Boz.

Death[edit]

On December 19, 2003 Lozanksy died of a heart attack in his sleep. He was 35.[1][2]
