Mike Neider (born July 20, 1965, in Van Nuys, California) is an American Guitarist and Skateboarder. He is best known for his many-year tenure in the hard rock band BL'AST!, from 1983 to CURRENT. After a long absence from the scene, the band officially began touring in 2014.[1] Neider has also been a member of both L.A.B.[2] and GUSTO!.[3][4]
Neider co-created BL'AST! in 1982, and has been with the band for over thirty years, recording three studio albums, The Power of Expression (1985) It's in my Blood (1986), Take the Manic Ride (1988),[5] In the 90's, Neider created other bands L.A.B., Blackout[6][7] and Gusto! as well as playing with other prominent players in other projects. Neider has worked in many prominent skateboard companies at the same time that BL'AST! began, as follows: Santa Cruz Skateboards, NHS, Independent Truck Company, Anti Hero Skateboards, Deluxe - dlxsf, Thrasher Magazine, Printime, The Driven Skateboards.
Musical career
A native of southern California, who moved to northern California for a stint of over thirty years, now resides once again in southern California. Neider began playing the guitar at age fourteen. When he moved to a rural area and the skateboarding sessions ended, there was nothing left for him to do other than learn how to play guitar by learning songs of bands that had influenced him. Neider's playing is influenced by Sabbath, Black Flag, Devo, Early Punk & Rock and 70's/80's Heavy metal music. He started off his guitar-playing career by co-creating the Santa Cruz punk band, BL'AST!, in 1982. After recording three albums and several tours, BL'AST! has released two LPs with Southernlord and had Dave Grohl mix the Blood LP at his Studio 606 that also included Alice in Chains front man William Duvall on guitar.[8]
