Minakshi Banerjee is an Indian computer scientist specializing in Image Processing. A professor of computer science at the RCC Institute of Information Technology, Kolkata, she is a research fellow at Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. Her research is mainly in the areas of image processing and pattern recognition. She had to travel to Warsaw.[1], Moscow and Italy for her research.
Education[edit]
Banerjee received her B. Tech., M. Tech. in Radiophysics and Electronics in 1990 from the University of Calcutta[2]. In 1992, she joined as a Scientific Officer in Government of India and worked up to 1993. She went on and did her PhD at the Indian Statistical Institute where she went ahead and got acquainted with some of the most well-known computer scientists of all times, namely Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay, Sankar Kumar Pal, Maloy Kundu and many others. She served as a Visiting Scientist at Indian Statistical Institute[3] until she went ahead as a Postdoctoral researcher at University of Cambridge[4]. She joined RCCIIT in the year 2008 and as of 2018 is serving as a Professor at the institute[5][6].
Teacher[edit]
Banerjee began teaching at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of RCC Institute of Information Technology in 2008. As of 2018 she is the senior most faculty member of the institute while advising multiple Bachelors and Masters students for their thesis.
Research[edit]
Banerjee's PhD work was in image processing. She has traveled across the world for her research and has published a number of research papers[7]
She supervised research projects funded by different agencies of the Government of India. Currently she is supervising a project by the Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences on Embedding Segmentation of PET Images for Medi according to the website of RCCIIT under the subheading 'Researches'[8]
