The Miramar Cultural Center, also known as the Miramar Cultural Center | ArtsPark, is a performing arts and cultural facility located in Miramar, Florida, United States, within the Miramar Town Center civic complex. The center includes a theater, art gallery, botanical garden, and public art installations.[1][2]
History
The Cultural Center was developed as part of the broader Miramar Town Center project, adjacent to Miramar City Hall and the Civic Plaza.[1] The project was completed in December 2008 and received public funding from Broward County and the State of Florida.[1]
The center was designed by Cartaya & Associates and constructed by Kaufman Lynn Construction.[3]
Facilities
The Miramar Cultural Center includes a theater, art gallery, multipurpose rooms, banquet facilities, a botanical garden, recital and rehearsal spaces, classrooms, meeting rooms, and administrative facilities.[1]
Public art
The center's botanical garden includes a public art glass installation titled Vanishing View, created by artist Alison Sky. The work was designed to evoke the diminishing landscape of the nearby Everglades.[2]
The garden has also hosted murals by artists including Ivan Roque, Jenny Pérez, Jose Felix Perez, and Nate Dee. The murals, titled Windows to Our World, depict the cultural diversity of Miramar's residents.[4]
Governance
The Cultural Center is administered by the City of Miramar's Cultural Affairs Department.[5]
Education programs
The center partners with Broward County Public Schools to provide arts programming, including School Matinee performances aligned with Florida education standards.[6]
