Miss Eritrea Universe or (well-known Miss Eritrea) is a national beauty pageant that selects Eritrea's official representative to Miss Universe—one of the Big Four International beauty pageants.
History
Miss Eritrea began as a platform to celebrate the country’s ethnic and cultural richness. In 2009, a landmark national beauty contest was held, featuring 130 women from nearly all nine of Eritrea’s ethnic groups. This event wasn’t just about beauty—it was about finding an Eritrean woman who embodied the nation's iconic features and could serve as a cultural ambassador. Organized with the goal of promoting unity through diversity, the pageant was widely praised for its inclusive spirit and cultural significance.[1]
In 2024, Snit Tewoldemedhin represented Eritrea at the Miss Universe pageant—marking the country's first-ever participation in the competition.[2]
