Miss International is part of the International Pageants Inc. system and is for women, who are 19 to 30 years old by July 1st of competition year, single, and are a resident of the state or a citizen of the country that they represent. The beauty pageant has been developed to promote today's young women and their accomplishments.

The pageant is associated with the "Go Red for Women" movement, which is the American Heart Association's national movement to end heart disease and stroke in women.[1]

While the Mrs. International Pageant began 30 years ago by International Pageants Inc., 25-year-old Sarah Wall, representing Minnesota, was crowned the first Miss International 2005 on July 31st, 2005 in Chicago, Illinois.[2]

Ciji Dodds, representing Maryland, was the first woman of African American descent and woman of color to be crowned Miss International on July 30, 2011, in Skokie, Illinois.[3] Since then, she has been named an official ambassador for Malaika for life, which is a nonprofit aimed at eradicating Malaria.[4]

The current reigning Miss International 2018 is Kaylee Ewing. Representing Georgia, Ewing was crowned at the Annual Miss International Pageant held in Charleston, West Virginia on July 28th, 2018. She also won the Photogenic Award in the Miss Georgia International Pageant. Ewing's platform is BRAVE, which focuses on educating and mentoring children facing hardship through the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and similar organizations.[5]

The Miss pageant is yet to see a country win the title.

Miss International Pageant[edit]

The Miss International Pageant is a week long pageant that runs in July of every year. As of 2017, it takes place in Charleston, West Virginia. Contestants from several countries and U.S. states, including but not limited to Australia, California, Cameroon, Canada, Caribbean, China, England, Georgia, Haiti, India, Mexico, New York, Russia, South Africa, Wales, West Indies, Venezuela take part every year. All titleholders until date have been from U.S. states.
