In 1999, after the consecutive eliminations of Christina Dieckmann and Veronica Schneider in 1997 and 1998, both of whom were considered amongst the strongest Miss World Venezuelas in history and whose eliminations were seen by the organization as a signal that it needed to send its winner to Miss World, Martina Thorogood, the winner of that year, was appointed to go to Miss World first. From 2000 to 2002, the Miss Venezuela World pageant was made separately.

The first two editions of the pageant showed the girls wearing numbers instead of sashes, and after the winner was chosen, a group of 26 was selected to compete in the Miss Venzuela Universe, held two months later. In 2000, The winner was Vanessa Cárdenas, who competed with other 35 contestants. In 2001, Andreína Prieto was selected and she bet 39 other candidates. In both years, Venezuela did not place at Miss World.

In 2002, the winner of Miss Venezuela World was chosen from the whole group of 27 candidates who competed later in Miss Venezuela Universe, this time identified with the sashes and representing states. The winner was Miss Carabobo, Goizeder Azúa and she made top 10 in Miss World 2003. In 2004 Miss Venezuela returned to its old tradition of choosing all representatives to Big 3 pageants in the Miss Venezuela Universe finals.

In 2011, Venezuela finally wins Miss World again with Ivian Sarcos.[1] [2]From 2012 and forward, Miss Venezuela Organization started to make again the Miss World Venezuela as a separate pageant, after Miss Venezuela Organization was asked to send a winner delegate to Miss World.

The first edition in this new stage was held on August 10, 2013, 12 candidates represented states. At the end of the night Karen Soto from Zulia, who also represented Costa Oriental in Miss Venezuela 2010, was crowned Miss Venezuela World 2013 and she competed in Miss World 2013 on September 28, 2013 in Bali, Indonesia. and the current Miss Venezuela World is Debora Menicucci who beat other 11 participants and had represented Amazonas in Miss Venezuela Unniverse 2013.[3] Both of them did not place in Miss World.

In 2015 Anyela Galanta was crowned Miss Venezuela World and will represent her country at Miss World 2015.[4][5]
