"Miss a Thing" is a song by Australian singer Kylie Minogue from her fifteenth studio album, Disco (2020). The song was written by Minogue, Teemu Brunila, Nico Stadi and Alida Garpestad Peck, with a sense of optimism for days ahead during the COVID-19 pandemic. Brunila and Stadi also handled the production. It is a disco-pop song with house and R&B elements and features vocoders, a funk bass and post-disco synths. The lyrics see Minogue attempting to win an ex back. It was sent for radio airplay in United Kingdom on 16 September 2022 as the fourth and final single from Disco.[citation needed]

Background and composition[edit]

Kylie teased the title of the song, posting a behind the scenes video on TikTok from the video of "Magic", the album's second single, captioning it "I didn't want you to MISS A THING". The song was co-written by Kylie and Ally Ahern, alongside its producers Teemu Brunila and Nico Stadi. Running for a length of three minutes and fifty-six seconds, "Miss a Thing" is one of the longest songs on Disco, running at a tempo of 115 beats per minute and written in the key of E minor.[citation needed]

The song employs the use of a drum machine, vocoded effects in the outro, soaring strings and string falls, and a bass played by Nico Stadi. Lyrically, the song talks about an interaction with a love interest, and wanting to experience a moment in time with them, which inadvertently related to the COVID-19 pandemic of the time. The song has musically been compared to "More More More" from Kylie's eighth studio album Fever (2001), due to its "slinkiness" and softly sung vocals

In the liner notes of Apple Music, Kylie said:

On 22 July 2022, Kylie surprise released a music video for the song, she announced it on Twitter as a thank you for the support for Disco, two years after the era began.[citation needed] The visual was directed by Sophie Muller.[1][2][3]
