Mission Shakti is an Odisha's flagship self-help group programme launched by Chief Minister of Odisha for promoting women's empowerment socially and economically. To enrich women's talent and endeavour, to make them financially independent,[2] the state government has taken initiatives to give it good shape. Approximately 70 lakhs women are involved in self-help groups in the state[3], with Rs 5000 crore in savings and Rs 2000 crore in annual bank exposure[4]. With loans of 1% interest to each self-help group, Rs 15000 financial assistance to each group, and production selling arrangements[5] recently Chief Minister of Odisha, as part of digital empowerment[6], the state government provided smartphones to 6 lakhs Mission Shakti groups.[7]

Objectives

  • To advance and assist women socially, technically & economically[8]

  • Linking banks with women's self-help groups.[8]
  • To reinforce self-help groups.[9]
  • Provide them with technical support, market and credit linkages if necessary.[9]
  • Providing expertise and imparting training for administration of women's self-help groups.[9]
  • To promote and market products of women's self-help groups.[9]
