Mist Systems is a private company that provides wireless networking products and services using Wi-Fi and virtual Bluetooth Low Energy (vBLE).[2][3][4] The cloud-based WLAN platform of the company uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to optimize wireless performance for mobile users. It also provides indoor location-based services such as wayfinding, proximity notifications, and location analytics.[5][6]

The company was founded in 2014 by Bob Friday, Sujai Hajela and Brett Galloway, who all previously worked for Cisco Systems.[7][1] The company's headquarters are based in Cupertino, a city within the San Francisco Bay Area.[8] In October 2014, Mist Systems acquired $14.4 million in a series A round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Norwest Venture Partners.[9] In October 2016, the company secured a further $28 million in a series B round led by GV, with additional funding from Cisco, Lightspeed and Norwest.[10][11] In July 2017, the company introduced a partner channel program to target service providers of cloud based wireless solutions.[12]
