Modern Phytomorphology is a peer-reviewed annual journal (2 volumes are published at the same time per year) scientific journal with open access policy under the BY‑NC‑ND license. It was established by Dr. Andrew V. Novikoff (Andriy V. Novikov) in Lviv in 2011 and publication got underway in early 2012.[1] The journal is covering most of the fields of experimental botany, especially plant morphology, anatomy and systematics. First three years this journal was closely related for the international conference on plant morphology, which held in Lviv on the base of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and/or State Natural History Museum of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. However later the journal became more independent platform for publishing of articles and short communications from the most of the fields of botany. The journal publishes papers in English, Ukrainian and Russian.

Modern Phytomorphology is indexed and/or abstracted in several databases, including such important as: Index Copernicus,[2] Polish Scholarly Bibliography,[3] POL-Index,[4] Directory of Open Access Journals,[5] EBSCO Host,[6] CAB Abstracts,[7] and CNKI.[8] It is also included in such taxonomical databases as AlgaeBase [9] and The International Plant Names Index.[10]
