Modi Aane Wala Hai was the official campaign song of the Bhartiya Janta Party during the 2014 Indian general election. It was released during the BJP National Executive Council meet on 19 January 2014. The song was written and composed by Abeer Vajpayee and sung by noted Bollywood singer Udit Narayan.
Composition[edit]
The song "Modi Aane Wala Hai" is quite different from all of the songs that had been used in the electoral campaign. The song is composed in a typical Bollywood mood, an essence of Hindustani classical music.
The lyrics of the song have been penned in a manner that portray a larger than life image of Narendra Modi, the BJP candidate for Prime Minister.
He has been referred to as the only ray of hope and a sole saviour in the country's time of distress. Other issues including inflation and FDI in retail have also been covered but in a creative and impressive manner.
Music video[edit]
The music video features people from all walks of life throughout the country. The song opens with a silhouette of a Marathi Ranbheri Player and transitions to a Kathakali dancer. The song also features many colours of the country who have been united to elect Modi. A jalebi wala, a tea vendor, a farmer and students have been shown in the song to promote a 'Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas' feeling among the audience.
Release and reception[edit]
The song was released on 19 January 2014 at BJP National Council meet in Ram Leela Maidan. Within 15 days of its release, the video went viral and was uploaded by number of people on YouTube. A ringtone of the same song was also launched and became immensely popular among Modi followers.[1] The growing popularity also caused BJP rivals to go to the Election Commission with a demand to stop the spread of the caller tune.[2][3][4][5]
Parody[edit]
Rivals, including the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress also created a parody version of the song called Feku Jaane Wala Hai ('Feku', referring to Modi is going to lose).[6][7]
