Gbubemi Eyimofé Boyo known professionally as Mofe Boyo, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and entrepreneur.[1]
She is known for often wearing African traditional attire, such as Yoruba women's clothing Iro ati Buba, with western streetwear sneakers, snapbacks, socks, and formal accessories, fashion elements, jewelry.
She made her public music debut with the release of Boogie Down (2018), accompanied by a music video and Gbotemi (Yoruba: “hear me out”), released in 2020, her vocal tone and style drew comparisons with Afro-pop singer Simi[2] during an extended play listening session in Lagos. Portuguese music executive Arthur Brandão [3] noted similarities in sound and appearance between the two artists, though Mofe has emphasized their differences and distinct artistic identities.
Early Life
Mofeboyo was born in Edo State, Nigeria from the Boyo lineage. She loved singing and dancing during her childhood, and she later developed an interest in music and was able to start practicing. After high school, she evolved into a professional with a focus on music.[3] She studied Science Laboratory Technology at the University of Benin. She later got a diploma in Music Business and Management from Berklee College of Music.
Career
Mofe began her professional music career in early 2018, developing a style she describes as Afro-urban, combining elements of Afrobeat with pop sounds. Her early releases spread across Nigeria, Europe, and United States of America, and were compared to Simi by critics.[3]
In 2018 - 2020, she released the single *Gbotemi* (in Yoruba language it means "hear me out"), which was described in the Nigerian press."[3] At her extended play (EP) listening session that year, Portuguese artist and repertoire executive Arthur Brandão compared her vocal tone and style to Nigerian singer Simi, a similarity that has been remarked upon by other critics, while emphasising Boyo’s distinct artistry.[2]
In 2021 - 2025, she released the single Lazy, which was described by TurnTable Chart as a female anthem with themes of empowerment and ambition.[4]
Mofe’s interest and passion for entrepreneurship and helping talent in Nigeria led her to found Cogent Education Consultant in 2019. At Cogent Education, Mofe has supported sporting talents to secure opportunities to study abroad [5]. She founded Cogent Education Consultant with a mission to train Nigerian youth and talent in top-tier universities in Europe, Asia, and North America.
Fashion
In 2023, Mofe introduced a personal fashion style she described as "AfroEurasia Vibe." The style combines African traditional attire, such as Yoruba women's clothing Iro ati Buba, with western streetwear sneakers, snapbacks, socks, and formal accessories, fashion elements, jewelry.

According to Guardian Nigeria, the artist intended the style to be both international and ceremonial.[6]
