Mohammad Abu Al Hasan

Mohammad Abu Al Hasan ( born 28 December 1988) is a young Bangladeshi Archaeologist. His research is focused on numismatics, metallurgy and Field Archaeology. Currently he is completing his M Phil degree on archaeometallurgy of the coins of Bengal sultanate from department of Archaeology in Jahangirnagar University.[1] Till November 2016, four of his research paper (3 joint and 1 solo)[2] on numismatics has been published in different peer reviewed journal both national and international. He is a co-author of the book Buddhist Heritage of Bangladesh published in 2015 by Nymphea publication where he has jointly wrote two chapter Buddhist Sites and Settlement and Buddhist Manuscript Painting.[3] Earlier in 2016, he has discovered and partially excavated a new archaeological site (probably a 9-11th century site according to his assumption) at Ujalpur village in Raninagar Upazila of Naogaon district which has got media coverage by various national dailies and television channels.[4]

Personal life[edit]

Mohammad Abu Al Hasan has completed his graduation in 2011 and masters in 2013 both on archaeology at the department of archaeology in Jahangirnagar University. Currently he is working as a Guide Lecturer (AD) at Bangladesh Bank Taka Museum, the only specialized museum on numismatics in Bangladesh.[5]

Besides his research, he is a philatelist and amateur photographer. Ten of his photographs of medieval coins were published in the book Coins from Bangladesh in 2013.[6] He collects and studies philatelic material related to Bangladesh issued from various countries other than Bangladesh.[7] He is also an animal right activist in Bangladesh and work as a volunteer for various animal welfare organization like CFP, PAW and ALB. He wrote various feature in national daily newspapers on numismatics, history, philately and animal welfare[8]
