Mohit Dhawan, MDS (born 04 June 1984), is a practicing prosthodontist and implantologist at a Chandigarh-based dental center specializing in minimally invasive dental implant surgery and full mouth rehabilitation.[1] He graduated from Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, Punjab, Postgraduate degree in Prosthodontics and Implantology from Pt. B.D. Sharma Health University, Rohtak, India, and advanced training in Oral Implantology at the Radboud University Nijmegen.

Books Published[edit]

He has authored a book on Single Implant Overdentures.[2][3]

Career and Education[edit]

Mohit Dhawan holds several memberships. He is a postgraduate member of the International Team of Implantology (ITI) and a life member of the Academy of Oral Implantology.[4][5] He is also a life member of the South Asian Academy of Osseointegration and an active member of the Academy of Osseointegration in the United States.[6]

He is acknowledged by the European Medical Association for his work in prosthetic, implant dentistry and full mouth rehabilitation. His private practice is sought after for medical visas for dental services by international patients in the region.

Dhawan represented India in the global championship called the SWCC.[7][8] This championship was a competition among teams of dentists from 28 different countries who showcased their skills in areas of dentistry such as Immediacy, Regenerative, Digital, and Esthetics.[9][10] Dhawan represented India in the Digital Implant Dentistry category and presented a clinical case along with three other dentists as part of a team.[11][12]

Controversy[edit]

Mohit Dhawan has accused former CBI special director Rakesh Asthana, former Chandigarh DGP Tajinder Singh Luthra, and others of influencing the police to file a case of cheating against him for extortion.[13][14][15] The Chandigarh Vigilance Department is investigating the complaint filed by Mohit, who alleges that the case against him was influenced by Rakesh Asthana and that the police have committed extortion, harassment, and document fabrication.[16][17][18]

Furthermore, Dhawan has challenged a decision by the Delhi High Court and has asked the Supreme Court of India to investigate and criminally prosecute former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Chief Rakesh Asthana based on his complaints of corruption.[19][20][21][22][23][24]

While Asthana was Delhi Police Commissioner, Dhawan was abducted from the District Court premises in Chandigarh. The High Court ordered CCTV preservation, call, and location records of police officials involved in the abduction.[25]

The High Court in Punjab and Haryana has ordered the Chandigarh Administration to make sure that data about the mobile numbers of 11 people, including 8 police officers, is preserved.[26][27] The court made this decision after a dentist named Mohit Dhawan claimed that the information, such as the geo-satellite location and call data records, went missing.[25][28]

The outcome of the case involving Mohit Dhawan and Rakesh Asthana is still awaited and pending before the courts.[29][30]
