Mookane Annual Get-Together Festival is a family oriented event aimed at promoting peace, unity, family values and economic empowerment amongst the people of Mookane and the surrounding areas such as Dibete, Mmaphashalala, Dinokwe etc. The event, which started in 2016 with just over 300 people in attendance, has seen a significant growth of over 800 people in its third installment in 2018. We anticipate a further growth of over 1000 people in 2019 due to our ongoing marketing campaigns
OUR COMMITMENT
1.Promote peace, unity and family values: through a host of various interactive family friendly activities such as mixed fun relays, jumping castles for kids, quad bike fun riding, horse riding, we bring people of different ages and genders together
2. Promote local small businesses: stalls are availed to local small businesses at the event to promote and sell their products and services over the 2days of the event. We also employ local companies for services such as catering, tent hire, security, sound and stage hire etc.
3. Give back to the community: since 2016 we have been making donations to Mookane Primary school through initiatives such as revamping of classrooms, donating towards the annual prize giving ceremonies and assisting with various day to day children necessities such as cleaning detergents etc.
4. Combat alcohol and drug abuse amongst the youth: we keep the youth busy by bringing fun activities to the community in a more controlled and family friendly environment. Activities such as mixed fun relay and jumping castles involves physical exercise which has great health benefits to the community.
ACTIVITIES
The following activities are performed as part of the event;
1. Quad Bike fun riding
This is the most popular family fun activity where both kids and adults of all ages can go on quad bike rides guided by experienced riders along an established route. All safety measures as helmets, first aid kits and drinking water are provided by the organizers.
2. Snooker open pool tournament
This is the second popular activity of the event which is open to anyone above the age of 18 years to compete for the championship. Prizes in the form of cash, trophies and medals are awarded to contestants who finish in positions 1, 2, 3 and 4.
3.Jumping castles
This activity caters for kids during the day. There is a dedicated supervisor who monitors the kids and ensures that all safety precautions are observed.
4. Battle of the Djs
Local Djs battle it out to be crowned King of the Decks as well as a cash prize for the winner.
5. Music Performances
Local artists and Djs take to the stage to entertain the crowd with live performances. We strive to promote upcoming artists and give them a platform to showcase their talents to the audience
6. Horse Race
Our horse race has become a hit with the crowd even though it was recently introduced in 2018. Our top three horses win trophies, medals and cash prizes
7. Mixed Fun Relay
This is an interactive and one of the popular activities which is open to people of all ages and genders. Each Team is made up of 2 males and 2 females. The relay includes 50m sack race, 100m balloon race, 50m spin and run and 400m quad bike race. The winning Team gets a case of drinks of their choice as well as our branded t-shirts
