Moonfrost is an upcoming free-to-play life simulation game and role-playing video game developed and published by British indie studio Oxalis Games. Set in a cozy, fantasy-inspired world, the game allows players to farm, build, socialize, and explore an isometric pixel-art landscape enhanced with atmospheric lighting and modern multiplayer mechanics. Moonfrost will be available on Windows, Mac and mobile platforms.

Gameplay

Players take on the role of a new resident in the town of Moonfrost, where they can:

Development

Moonfrost is being developed by Oxalis Games, an independent studio founded by game industry veterans Gina Nelson and Ric Moore. The team includes talent from companies such as Epic Games, Unity Technologies, NaturalMotion, Ubisoft, and Sumo Digital.

The project secured $4.5 million in early funding in 2021 from investors including Animoca Brands, Pantera Capital, Griffin Gaming Partners, and Supercell. An additional $2 million was raised in 2024 to support the live alpha testing phase.

The game has undergone multiple closed alpha tests, since it first began development in 2022. Moonfrost will launch into early access Summer 2025.

Music

The soundtrack for Moonfrost is composed by Daniel Hoang. The game’s audio direction plays a central role in shaping the overall atmosphere, with the development team using custom playlists to inspire visual and narrative design.

Reception

Moonfrost has been praised for its art style and community-driven development model. It was one of the 20 most wishlisted games on the Epic Games Store as of early 2025.
