Morsho (Somali: Moorsho Arabic: مورشو) who also go by the name Moorshe are a Benadiri clan mainly from the southern coastal cities of; Mogadishu[1] and Marka.
Overview[edit]
The Moorsho or the Morshe clan trace their ancestry to the Ajuuran clan who's founding father is Bal'ad who had married with the arabs on the coasts.[2][3] This clan and those who align themselves with them traditionally live adjacent to each other in and around the Friday Mosque, Hamar Weyne[4] and in the last century also live in the newer neighbouring Waberi district. According to Anita Adam's 'Benadiri People of Somalia with Particular Reference to the Reer Hamar of Mogadishu' Moorsho was originally the name of an area inhabited by many different Banaadiri clans of Hamar Weyne[5], which later united to form one of the 4 main confederacies in the ancient Hamar Weyne district.
