Morgan Shea Ricke (born August 6, 1987) is a marine animal trainer and reality television participant, known for Survivor: Ghost Island.
Early life[edit]
Ricke grew up in New Albany, Indiana, with her parents, Michael and Tammie, and her four younger siblings.[1] As a youth, she competed in gymnastics, until she was sidelined by an injury. Following knee surgery,[2] she eventually sought other athletic opportunities. She competed in volleyball and diving at New Albany High School.[1] In 2006, she won the Jasper Sectional in the 1m Dive,[3] and eventually competed at the state diving finals that year.[4]
College and career[edit]
Following high school, Ricke would attend the University of South Carolina (SC) on a diving scholarship. She chose SC due to its marine science program.[5] She competed in the 1m and 3m Dive at SC.[6] During her sophomore year, she was voted team captain.[5] She also made the SEC Academic Honor Roll three years straight.[6]
Upon finishing her degree in marine biology,[7] she procured a job with SeaWorld in 2010.[8] She initially worked at its San Antonio location, during which time she underwent extensive training and landed a major speaking role during its shows.[9] Eventually, she transferred to SeaWorld Orlando, where she would become a senior animal trainer.[8]
Survivor[edit]
In 2017, Ricke was cast on the 36th season of the American reality competition show Survivor. She was placed on the Naviti tribe at the start of the game. On Day Four, she received the Legacy Advantage from Jacob Derwin of the Malolo tribe. Derwin had found this advantage while on Ghost Island and he was required to give it to someone on the opposing tribe, and he chose Ricke. Five days later, she was voted out in a blindside, giving her an 18th place finish on Day Nine. After her elimination, she bequeathed her Legacy Advantage to fellow player Domenick Abbate.
