The company was created in 2013 in Bournemouth, UK and operates under the company name Movem ltd.

Movem works directly with students' unions; universities which have actively endorsed Movem include; Bournemouth University, Arts University Bournemouth, Bradford university, University of Bristol, Cambridge university, Royal holloway, University of Swansea, Brighton university, Sussex university, university of Southampton, Southampton Solent university, university of Westminster.
Timeline
- June 2013 - Founded whilst Peter was studying at Bournemouth University, after a horrific encounter with an awful landlord and agency.
- Dec 2013 - Expanded into Brighton and Southampton after requests from students.
- Nov 2014 - Movem used in more than 20 universities around the UK.
- April 2015 - Movem raised £140k to expand to more universities.
- Oct 2015 - Students in more than 90 universities in the UK are using Movem.
- April 2016 - Movem relocates to Brighton, and announces expansion into the general lettings market. 100s of agencies pre-register in week 1.
- Aug 2016 - Crowdfunded £200k in 10 days on Crowdcube, helped by the 100s of users who had joined a waiting list to invest.
- May 2017 - Movem v3 launches, available to every tenant, landlord and agent in the UK.

Welcome to Movem, a place where tenants, landlords and agencies have been sharing their rental experiences since 2013. The way people rent property is outdated and unreliable. Movem allows tenants to find a home they’ll love, without spammy sales tactics and hidden fees. We’re on a mission to improve the way people rent properties, helping trustworthy tenants connect with the best landlords and agencies.
