Muhammad Ali Maghrabi is a Saudi writer and historian born in 1915 in Jeddah where he lived all his life.[1] He was a member of the founding council of the Jeddah Literary Club in 1975. He died in 1996. He studied school at the school of Jeddah, then continued in Al-Falah school and graduated from it. He created Al-Bilad newspaper in 1930. He wrote lots of poetry and books about his country (Saudi Arabia's) history. Maghrabi was the editor-in-chief of Voice of Al-Hijaz newspaper in 1941 for a period of 49 days. His books mostly talk about the political side and the social movements that were happening in his time in Saudi Arabia.[2]

His literary production[edit]

Muhammad Ali Maghrabi wrote quatrains poetry in Al-Madine newspaper in the 1800s, where he documented the political events and social movements happening. Those quatrains were published in a collection in 1994, thus, the pioneers of quatrains poetry chanted when they remixed poetry, especially the poetry of Al-Rubaiyat, as Muhammad Saeed Al-Amoudi, Ahmed Qandil, and Muhammad Hassan Faqi did, who all wrote quatrains. There is another poetry that is the prophetic poem, and Muhammad recorded in it systems for the prophetic biography from the birth of the Prophet Muhammad until his death, and the poem was published in Dar Al-Alm belonging to Al-Madina Newspaper in 1995. Muhammad Ali Maghrabi wrote about Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, Omar bin Al-Khattab, Othman bin Affan, Ali bin Abi Talib and his son Al-Hassan bin Ali, in the Series about the Companions which he started in 1982.[3] Muhammed also wrote many essays and paragraphs in major Saudi and international newspapers and magazines.
