Muhammad Bilal Murtaza Malik (Urdu: محمد بلال مرتضیٰ ملک; Arabic: محمد بلال مرتضیٰ مالک; born 1 October 1970) is an American-Pakistani Islamic scholar, public figure, author, and Imam.[1] Imam Bilal was born in Lahore, but was raised in Saudi Arabia. He became a Hafiz of the Quran at the age of 10, and received his first Ijazah at the age of 12. He has since earned many distinguishable academic awards in the Islamic fields, and has provided Dawah to many people across the eastern United States. He currently serves as the resident scholar and Imam of the Islamic Center of North East Florida, and has been doing so since October 2017.[2][3]
Imam Bilal has previously served as the resident scholar of several different mosques and cities in the eastern United States, such as in Orlando, FL, Greenville-Spartanburg, SC, Memphis, TN, and Frederick City, MD.[4]
Imam Bilal has also appeared on Pakistani television numerous times, on channels like ARY Qtv, to deliver Islamic lectures[5], as well as being in interviews with various local American news agencies as the lead representative of the Islamic community in the cities he has served (e.g. First Coast News, the Frederick News-Post)[6][7]
