Dhanasekaran Kuppusamy (born 15 June 1976), known by his stage name Mullai, is an Indian film and television actor and comedian who works predominantly in Tamil cinema.[1] He is a registered member of the Nadigar Sangam (South Indian Artistes' Association) with membership number 8147.[2]
He gained recognition through Star Vijay's Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? (Season 5), where he was paired with comedian Kothandam.[3] His debut film was Udhayan (2011), directed by Ezhil, starring Udhayanidhi Stalin and Regina Cassandra.[4] He has performed in comedy shows in Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and Sri Lanka.[5]
Early life and career
Mullai was born in Thiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu and began his career in Tamil television.[6] He made his television debut on Sun TV's Super Ten, followed by appearances in the serials Thendral (Sun TV) and Poi Solla Porom (Jaya TV).[7]
He later appeared in Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? Season 5 on Star Vijay, paired with comedian Kothandam. Media outlets have noted comparisons between the duo and the Tamil comedy pair Goundamani–Senthil.[8] He has also appeared in the comedy shows Sirippuda and Adhu Idhu Yedhu on Star Vijay, and Comedy Galatta on DD Tamil.[9]
The duo has given interviews to outlets including India Glitz,[10] Rednool,[11] Cine Ulagam,[12] and Behindwoods.[13][14]
