Mustafa Gül (born June 25, 1961, Kemer) is a Turkish politician, former businessman, and former mayor of Kemer.
Born on June 25, 1961, in Kemer, Gül completed his primary and secondary education in Kemer and his high school education in Antalya. He was introduced to commerce while working with his father in the market.[1][2] He served as the Vice President of the Wrestling Federation from 1995 to 1998 and held founding president and managerial positions in various NGOs. Gül started his business career in tourism management. He was elected as the Mayor of Kemer for the CHP in the 1994–1999 term. After a 10-year break, he was elected as the Mayor of Kemer from the MHP in the March 29, 2009, local elections.[citation needed]
In 2012, he was detained on allegations of 'rigging the tender' but was later released.[3] He was re-elected as the Mayor of Kemer from the MHP in the 2014 local elections. In 2015, he married Neşe Gül and is a father of four children. In 2016, he shared a photo with Meral Akşener on Twitter, leading to his referral to the disciplinary board by the party headquarters. He resigned from the MHP without waiting for the process and shortly after joined his former party, the CHP.[4][5] Since 2012, Gül has been undergoing trial without detention, and the course of the case he is involved in has changed, continuing to be tried on bribery allegations.[6][7]
