My Beautiful Laundrette is a 2021 EP by English synth-pop duo Pet Shop Boys, released on 21 May 2021.[1] [2]
Background
Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe joined the production team of Chris Stafford and Nikolai Foster for the stage musical adaptation performed at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry. Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe said: It’s wonderful to be part of the team bringing My Beautiful Laundrette from the screen to the stage and we’ve enjoyed writing mainly instrumental music to be presented within a British Asian context. At that point, the next year they included the mastered tracks recorded during the musical adaptation on the 2020 version of Annually catalogue, and released them in EP and digital formats on 2021.
Release
A CD edition of My Beautiful Laundrette became available as part of the 2020 edition of Annually, the Pet Shop Boys' once-a-year publication.
