Mystery Case Files: Dire Grove, Sacred Grove is the eleventh game in the casual Adventure-Game series Mystery Case Files published by Big Fish Games. It's the second and last game of the series developped by Elephant Games.

The story is in the british Town of Dire Grove that was showed the sixth game of the series.

Gameplay

The game is filled with Puzzles and hidden objects scenes of all kind in a First-person point and click adventure.

Plot

The Master Detective receive a letter asking to return in Dire Grove, Where local hunters are in a feud with a local group of druids called the Mistwalkers. At his/her arrival, it appear that the extreme winter return and that the forest wild animals seem to attack and appear of nowhere, a hunter conduct him/her to the leader of there group, a hunter called Samuel Crowford. The hunters captured one of the Mistwalkers who they think are responsible of the events that happens, the detective that Samuel must have something against the Mistwalkers because of the disparition of his son Peter and that the town was evacuated because of the temperature and the creature. He/her discover that the Mistwalkers can do vengeance if someone don’t respect the Sacred Grove and the forest spirit, it’s made him/her think that the hunters must do something to make the Mistwalkers put a curse on Dire Grove. After questioning Samuel, the detective decide to interrogate the captured Mistwalker who’s called Ulf that inform it that he was the one who send him/her the message, others Mistwalkers come to attacking the hunters, but Ulf stop the fight. When the fight was stopped, Ulf learn to the detective that the keeper spirit ask vengeance because someone enter the sacred grove with wrong intentions and invite him/her to search the Mistwalker’s camp to prove there innocence. Samuel give the key to the hotel to the detective to prove he is not the culprit of the trespassing of the sacred grove, but the detective discover that his wife Lily is dead and accuse the Mistwalker to kill her and not try to save her. After this and the disappearance of his son, Samuel tried to put the citizen of Dire Grove in war against the Mistwalkers, but no one wanted to follow and a video find in the hotel show Samuel arguing with Bjorn, one of the Mistwalkers about the death of Lily. But the detective discover that Peter is still alive and he can be choose to became the successor of the leader of the Mistwalkers. When he/her return to the hunters camp, Samuel and Bjorn was about to fight, but another hunter shoot Bjorn and hurt him that he need medical herbs to heal. The detective decide to investigate on Bjorn to find if he has a role on the events, he/her discover that he was in love with Lily accuse Samuel to keep her away of the Mistwalkers and for her death. When the detective discover that the anger of Bjorn was more intense when he find an hunter badge in the sacred grove, he/her ask Samuel about the badge and discover that maybe his son Derek know more about it. He/she go to the town to interview Derek about the hunter who enter the sacred grove, Derek give a letter that put Ted from the group of Samuel that may be the responsible by making poaching, but he/she find another clue prove that Ted is innocent and that he saw Derek in the sacred grove. As Derek is now a suspect, the detective search his house to find clues that can confirm his innocence or not. He/she came to conclusion that Derek stole the child of forest to make an exchange with the Mistwalkers to have his brother back. After talking to Samuel, the detective convinced him to make an alliance between the hunters and the Mistwalkers to find Derek. The detective go to the hideout of Derek to save the child of forest, but when he/her do it, Derek burst outside to kill the deerling. But the leader of the Mistwalkers appear and show him that he is his brother Peter. Derek decide to redemption itself for what he do after viewing that, Peter say that can break the curse. The detective quit the two brothers now that the town is save and they gave him/her a gift that a deer talisman to remember the case. Before the credits, the eye of the gift glow red.

The bonus chapter begin 4 hours after the main game, the Master Detective become unconscious and when he/her woke up, he/her discover that his/her car is now completely frozen. After releasing of the car, he/her found message of Derek saying that he is controlling by a renegade Mistwalker called the hermit and he want use him and Peter for a blood ritual. The detective discover that the hermit made the event of the main game possible and suspect him to be Alister Dalimar that continue is maniacal quest of immortality. The Detective stop his ritual by saving the brothers, but it appear a the end that Thanatos (Alister’s familiar raven) have a medallion that show that Alister manage to survive.

Alternative ending

The collector edition of the game contains a second bonus game called alternative ending. This game begin after the Master Detective go to the house of Derek in snowmobile.
