Nabil Al-Khatib
Nabil Al-Khatib (born 1962)[1] is a Palestinian journalist, the former general manager of Al Arabiya news.[2] He is currently the Project Director of Bloomberg Asharq.[3][4]
Early life
Al-Khatib was born in Beit Iba, a suburb of Nablus, Palestine in November 1962 with Jordanian nationality. He started his journalism studies at the University of Minsk in Belarus in 1981, and completed his Ph.D. in 1991 with a speciality in mass communication.
Career
Al-Khatib started his career teaching journalism at Birzeit University in the West Bank from 1991 to 1993.[5]
Al-Khatib became well-known in the Middle East since 1993 for being a TV reporter for MBC group in Jerusalem. In 1996 he became head of MBC group’s office in Jerusalem, and was promoted to executive editor-in-chief of the news channel Al-Arabiya, which is part of MBC group, in 1996, serving there until 2017 in Dubai. Al-Khatib left Middle Eastern journalism jobs and moved to Ottawa, Canada to work for Ebamedia Consultancy Limited for two years as a media consultant.[6] Al-Khatib returned to Dubai in 2019 to become the general manager of Al Arabiya and Al Hadath TV channels, and left it in the same year to participate in establishing a new media platform called Asharq.[3][7]
