Najeeb Al-Mulla is the chairman and major shareholder of the Al Mulla Group, one of Kuwait's biggest enterprises.
Life[edit]
Najeeb spent a few years of his childhood in Kuwait before transferring to Victoria College, Alexandria. He then went to England, and once his father passed in 1955, his older brother Bader Abdallah AlMulla took his father's position, Najeeb moved to Switzerland and studied Languages for several years. He then returned to Kuwait in 1960 and worked as an ordinary employee in the family company. When his brother Bader passed away in 1969, Najeeb was appointed as Chairman of the board of directors as he developed the resources and projects of the Al Mulla Companies away from the media.
Family Business[edit]
AlMulla was enjoying considerable success in the 70s, particularly in the automotive sector. In 1978 the shareholders led by Najeeb AlMulla decided to effect some radical changes through a new long-term strategy. A multi-national Board was appointed to enhance the management of the company and at the same time, with support from its in-house finance company, a major diversification program was commenced in which the Group entered markets such as environmental systems, vehicle rental and leasing, fire protection, office equipment, security services, engineering products, computers, and insurance consultancy. Employee motivation and loyalty, the foundation of every successful business, was enhanced with the introduction of comprehensive profit-related incentive bonus schemes throughout the Group. Najeeb would always take the opinion of the majority, even if the consensus opinion was against him because he liked to listen to others.
