Naoki Morioka (森丘 直樹 Morioka Naoki) is a Japanese guitarist and a musical arranger in distributors Being Inc., mainly in their label Giza Studio. Since 2017, he is a member of a rock band Dps and since 2019 member of instrumental rock band Wweez as a guitarist and a composer.[1][2]
Biography[edit]
Naoki started his career in 2014 with the release of ombinuous album of young Japanese guitarists Guitar Battle Workshop.[3] Between 2015-2016 he released solo albums, which have been available during the time only at the live venue, however since 2020 they became available on the music download services.
Since then, his talent has been acknowledged to the other staff of the Giza Studio. The first of result of acknowledgment lead to be part of the tribute project D-project in which he involved in recording of the album "D-project with Zard" as guitarist and an arranger in 2016.[4][5] On the same year and since then, he became the stable member of the band tributing to the Zard regular live projects What a beautiful memory. The DVD was released in 2017.[6]
In beginning of 2017, he became the member of the indie rock band Dps along with the vocalist Ryosuke Kimura, Tsuyoshi Yasui and the former member of the Naifu, Atsushi Kawamura. He held his the first band live in April at the live avenue Hills Pankojo[7]. On November at the same year, the band has released the first independent album Begins with Em under indies label Tent House. The album was successful with reaching into Tower Records Kansai rankings as No.1[8][9]
2018 has been marked as the busiest year for the Naoki himself.
In October 2018 Naoki participated in music production recording as a guitarist on special project KYOTO RIMPA ROCKERS. The main producer of this project is the owner of Being Inc., Daiko Nagato.[10][11] In November 2018, his band made major debut with the release of the release Timeline. The single served as an opening theme for Anime television series Detective Conan.[12][13][14] In December, he participated in music production recording as a guitarist in Daigo cover album Deing.[15][16]
During that period and since then, he is regularly collaborating with an American guitarist Marty Friedman such as a member band in his live tours around Japan and Australia.[17][18][19]
In 2019, has has become a member of the Japanese-instrumental rock band Wweezz. In 2020, the band has released digital EP release "Kono Koudou ni Hi wo Tsukete".[20]
He is active as of 2022.
