The National Distributist Party is a socially Conservative and economically Distributist minor political party. The party was launched in April 2020, and was officially registered with the Electoral Commission on the 24th of December 2021.[2]
Description[edit]
The National Distributist Party (NDP) was founded by members of an online community to promote Distributism as an alternative economic theory and political philosophy in the United Kingdom.[3] [4] The NDP is inspired by the works of renowned Distributists such as G.K. Chesterton and Hilaire Belloc, who advocated for a more equitable distribution of wealth and property.[5]
Distributism, as an economic theory, emphasises the widespread distribution of property and the decentralisation of economic power.[6] This philosophy stands in contrast to both capitalism and socialism.[7]
The NDP engages in various forms of activism to spread awareness of National Distributist principles, which has occasionally garnered local media interest.[8]
Representatives[edit]
In 2023, Tyler White stood as the NDP candidate in the Stonehouse Town Council by-election.[9] Tyler White lost the election to Wendy Thomson (Independent) who won 652 (91.8%) votes.[10][11] Tyler White won 58 (8.17%) votes in the election.[12]
During the 2024 local elections, Tyler White became the first NDP councillor on Nailsworth Town Council through an uncontested election.[13][14]
