Early Life
Nazar Mohammad Mutmaeen was born in 1973 to a very humble & naïve Muslim parents at Zarghoon village, Nad Ali district, Helmand province in southern Afghanistan.
Education
The family of Nazar Mohammad Mutmaeen was forced to flee out of the country in to neighboring Pakistan, shortly after the communists took power following a military coup. Panjpai refugee camp in Baluchistan, Pakistan was the right place for many Afghan IDPs, including Mutmaeen, to settle down. Mutmaeen started to seek his initial education at martyred Khatak preliminary school. He then continued his elementary studies at Habib ur Rahman school located at Quetta, Baluchistan. Nazar Mohmmad Mutmaeen was able to successfully graduate from Sayed Jamaluddin Afghani high school in Peshawar, Pakistan. Back in 1992, Mutmaeen passed the university entry exam & was able to get enrolled in to the civil engineering faculty of Nangarhar University, he was officially shifted in to the civil engineering faculty of Kabul University & was able to finish his higher education by late 1998. Mutmaeen also chose to get some Islamic education while in Pakistan & that was precisely when Afghanistan was still ruled by the Communist Party. He personally endured the costs of his random Islamic studies. Motmaeen requested Mullah Abdul Salam Abed to teach him the holy Quran & Tafseer.
Tasks
Mutmaeen did not only seek higher education, but he was willing to undertake certain tasks as well. In 1996, he was appointed as the director for Radio & TV Station of Nangarhar province. In 1997, Mutmaeen was appointed as the manager for Kabul General Library & at the same time, he run the national archive administration as well. Meanwhile, he worked as the chief editor of Ketab magazine in Kabul as well. In 1998, Mutmaeen was appointed as the manager of Baihaqi General Library in Kabul. It was in 1999, when Mutmaeen decided to step down officially. Back in 2000, he decided to inaugurate the Al-Mutmaeen English Language Training Center in Helmand province. Shortly after that, Mutmaeen was appointed as the head of information & culture directorate in Helmand. Meanwhile, during that time, Mutmaeen opened the Solgar Computer Training Center. In 2002, Mr. Mutmaeen started working with NGOs, particularly those involved in the reconstruction of schools & clinics. In 2005, Mutmaeen joint UNOPS (United Nations Office for Project Services) in Kandahar, but he was later shifted to continue working at UNOPS Kabul office until his resignation back in 2009.
Political Affiliations & Relationships
When Mutmaeen was busy studying at school & college, his family developed steady ties with Hezb-e-Islami Party led by Mr. Gulbuddin Hekmatyar. It is to worth mentioning that Mutmaeen received most of his education at schools run & operated by Hezb-e-Islami in Quetta and Peshawar, Pakistan. Albeit Mutmaeen was continuing to go to university, but he still undertook a number of tasks at the ministry of information & culture in Kabul. Following the events of 9/11 & the subsequent US-NATO attack on Afghanistan to topple the Taliban regime, Mutmaeen continued to work with a couple of NGOs operating in the fields of engineering & construction. Mutmaeen was able to meet a number of civil societies & political parties while he was physically present in Kabul, but it was during the recent times when Mutmaeen joint the ongoing peace efforts to compromise with the Afghan armed groups. Mutmaeen has attended peace conferences, bringing together delegates of Taliban & Hezb-e-Islami, with the most key ones held in Kyoto, Japan in 2011 & 2012. Mutmaeen attended the peace conferences of Islamabad, Istanbul & Warsaw, which were held to settle peace & reconciliation in Afghanistan. Nazar Mohamamad Mutmaeen is currently living & based in Kabul, Afghanistan. He serves & works for the coordination of the peace efforts with the Taliban & other warring factions.
