Network for People's Action (NPA; Bengali: নেটওয়ার্ক ফর পিপলস অ্যাকশন) is a left-wing political platform in Bangladesh. It was formally launched on 16 January 2026 at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka, splitting from the National Citizen Party (NCP).[1]

History

The platform was established by young left-leaning and centrist activists who participated in the July mass uprising, including some former members of the NCP who had recently resigned. The launch event took place at BST 16:00 (UTC+6), where organizers announced a preliminary committee and outlined a draft political manifesto.[2]

Ideology and principles

NPA operates on five core principles: democracy, equality, human dignity, social justice, and the protection of life, nature, and the environment.[3] It aims to build a social democratic movement, mobilize grassroots efforts, and advocate for radical political and social reforms while remaining free from muscle power, extremism, and patronage-based politics.[4][5]

Leadership

The platform is led by a 101-member central council.[6] Three spokespersons were appointed: Ferdous Ara Rumi, Nazifa Jannat, and Tuhin Khan (also known as Moinul Islam Tuhin).[citation needed]

Notable members of the council include Anik Roy (former general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra Union and former joint convener of NCP), Baki Billah (former president of Chhatra Union), Meghmallar Basu (president of Chhatra Union's Dhaka University unit), Main Ahmed (general secretary of Chhatra Union), Mir Huzaifa Al Mamduh, Alik Mru, and Tasleema Mizi.[citation needed]

The platform's launch featured the slogan "People's Power, Freedom of the Future" (Bengali: জনগণের শক্তি, আগামীর মুক্তি).[citation needed]
