News Break or newsbreak.com is an AI-powered news aggregator owned by Particle Media. It has a website as well as Apple and Android apps.

    History[edit]

The company behind News Break is Particle Media, Inc. It was cofounded by Jerry Yang (chief advisor) and Jeff Zheng (CEO) in 2015. It has received $20 million in funding from IDG Capital, ZhenFund, and Ding Lei of NetEase. Zheng had previously led Yahoo Labs, then launched Yidian Zixun, which competed against ByteDance's Toutiao.[2][3]

Vincent Wu, former Head of Operations of Huffington Post, joined as COO in 2019.[2][3]

In 2020, AI expert and former Microsoft exec Harry Shum joined as chairman of the board.[2][3][4][5]

    Features[edit]

The premise behind the application is that national news and celebrity news are well served, but not local news.[2][6][3]

The service can be accessed via web browser, or via mobile apps for iOS and Android.
