Newton's Crossing, California
Newton's Crossing was a small settlement on the Stockton – Los Angeles Road in Merced County, California, United States, at its crossing on the Chowchilla River. Its location marked the southeast corner of the official boundary of Merced County.[1][2]
Newton's Crossing was owned by William F. Newton who also owned a house and 160 acres of land there on the north side of the Chowchilla River and with improvements and stock, valued at $2260 in 1857.[1]
