Nick Royaards
Nick Royaards (born 5th Jan 1987) is an artist manager based in Antwerp, Belgium. Nick has been co-managing and spearheading the artist branch at the Tomorrowland offices from 2013.
His full artist management & creative role involves managing dance acts including the current #2 DJ’s in the world Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike,[1] Lost Frequencies,[2] 3 Are Legend, Yves V and Angemi.[3][4] Royaards is also one of the creative forces behind event concepts in the electronic scene of which include ‘Bringing The World The Madness’, ‘House of Madness’, 'Garden of Madness' and ‘Lost Frequencies & Friends’.[5][6]
Career[edit]
Nick began his professional career launching Belgian based Nightlife & Artist management company Blue Flame[7][8] where he was a key promotor in the Belgian music scene. Nick made his name within the Belgian dance music scene by bringing over artist such as the likes of Dada Life, Chuckie, Jazzy Jeff, Yellow Claw, and Sebastian Ingrosso to DJ in the country.[9][10] In 2013 he joined ID&T’s/Tomorrowland Belgium team where he created the artist branch for in-house artists Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Yves V.[11]
In early 2014 Royaards discovered and co-founded the management team behind multi-platinum selling house music producer Lost Frequencies,[2][12] best known for his 2014 single ‘Are You with Me’[13][14] and 2015 single ‘Reality’.[15]
In 2015 the Tomorrowland management division moved away from using independent agents and began handling bookings themselves for all their in-house acts.[16][17]
Events[edit]
His involvement in the ‘Bringing the Madness’ arena concept has led to record breaking success over a five-year period.[18] Held at the Sportpaleis Antwerp arena, the most recent episode of ‘Bringing the Madness’ saw fans snap up 60,000 tickets in 60 minutes[19][20] - a feat previously only managed by names such as U2, Madonna, Coldplay, Beyoncé, and Michael Jackson. Spread across 4 dates and once again housed at the Sportpaleis Antwerp, the end of year spectacle saw 84,000 fans join the brothers.[21] An offshoot of the arena concept took place in Germany in November 2016. Titled "Bringing Germany The Madness", the show broke the record for the most attendees at a solo DJ show in Germany,[22] as 45,000 fans attended the Veltins Arena.[23][24][25]
Internationally the ‘Bringing the Madness’ arena concept has so far featured in Mexico with more editions due for the future.[26] Nick has also had a creative role in Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s seasonal Ibiza residency.[27][28] Currently holding their Ibiza residency for the 5th year on the island; 3 years with ‘House of Madness’ at Amnesia and since 2017 with 'Garden Of Madness' as the weekly Tuesday night event at Ushuaia Ibiza. Which has become one of Ibiza’s biggest selling EDM shows and has been host to guest DJs such as Martin Garrix, Diplo, Fatboy Slim, Steve Aoki, Armin van Buuren and Nicky Romero.[29][30]
Nick also played a key role in helping to launch Lost Frequencies' 'Less is More' Arena show, as well as helping the Belgian artist bring his music to the live show environment with a full live set-up. The show proved to receive record-breaking numbers and pan-wide interest from the media and fans alike.[31][32]
Label Work
Nick’s role as manager of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike also sees him oversee the operations of the duo’s record label Smash The House,[33] which has released music from artists such as David Guetta, Martin Garrix, Diplo, Wiz Khalifa, Ne-Yo, Gucci Mane, Afrojack, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike themselves, as well as Lost Frequencies' very own imprint Found Frequencies.[23][24]
