Nightmare Tenants, Slum Landlords.[1] is a factual/reality documentary series on Channel 5 created by BriteSpark Films which looks at both sides of Britain’s housing crisis. The series follows independent eviction specialists working on behalf of landlords attempting to evict tenants who are behind with their rent, and local authority housing officers investigating rogue landlords and unsafe living conditions, including illegal HMOs (House in Multiple Occupation).
Production[edit]

The programme follows individual stories such as "The woman whose buy to let properties were 'highjacked' by a rogue letting agent" and "The slum landlord who packed 13 immigrants into a warren of decrepit rooms."[4] In 2015, it was brought to Spike UK.[5]

In May 2015, Michelle Chappell - Channel 5's Commissioning Editor, announced the first season of Nightmare Tenants, Slum Landlords. She said “This is generation rent – for every tenant who won’t pay, there’s a landlord making profit out of slum conditions.
“With 8 million of us renting, it’s a huge issue and this dramatic series exposes some shocking tactics on both sides.”[7]
