Niina Aasmäe (née Nujanzina) is an Estonian linguist.
Aasmäe worked at the Language Center of the University of Tartu from 1979 to 2006.
Since 2006 she has been a researcher at the Finno-Ugric Department of the Institute of Estonian and General Linguistics of the University of Tartu.[2] She has taught English and Italian at the language center, and Erzya at the Finno-Ugric department.
Aasmäe's research areas are phonetics and phonology of Finno-Ugric languages, experimental phonetics, and sociolinguistics. She has translated Erzya literature into Estonian.
