Giulio Paulis is a university professor of glottology and linguistics and dean of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Cagliari. Author of numerous essays, he has been particularly interested in the problem of the relationship between language and culture, language and history and in the diachronic dimension of the linguistic phenomenon. He investigated, in the context of the Mediterranean world, the reality of Sardinia in relation to the different linguistic components: Paleosard, Phoenician, Latin, Greek-Byzantine, Catalan and Spanish.
He was the editor of the translations and editions of the works on the Sardinian language by Max Leopold Wagner.
