Career[edit]

Jonson, is a storyteller and a former corporate employee who gave up his job in a UK-based travelling agency to pursue his dreams of filmmaking. It took him five years until he realized that he was meant to do more, than just sit in a corner in the office and  high-rise glass buildings. Without wasting any more time Jonson took a leap of faith and crossed over to a whole new world of cinema; and since then there has been no looking back. After 10 years of film-making, with over 1 million followers on Facebook,[11] Instagram[12] and YouTube,[2] Jonson is now on a mission to save relationships in the contemporary times.

During his early career stages, when Jonson got a chance to work with Anurag Kashyap, he took it with his friend Rohit Gaba. The Last Act[13][14][15] had 12 directors and Jonson was one of them.

Nijo and his team did the complete prodcution in "If You Love Your Children"[16]F in Hollywood. This film also won many awards. After some time he decided to start a production house with the name of Purani Dili Talkies.[17]

"An anthem by the youth[18]" - Two crowdsourced films, made by six youngsters, were unveiled, and together, the two films comprise My Nation My Anthem (MNMA). The project has been crowdsourced on the TalentHouse India website in association with HT. Director Shoojit Sircar of Rising Sun Films supervised the project. The anthem will now be played at PVR Cinemas. The young winners are Devansh Bhatia (musician), Saurabh Shetye (singer), Aashini Shah and Vishwesh Kolvalkar (filmmakers of the first film). This one shows youngsters getting inspired to stand up for and be proud of the country. The second team included Nijo Johnson and Rohit Gaba, and they show patriotism through the eyes of children.

Nijo Jonson is one of the fastest growing internet sensations. Within a span of 10 years he single handedly have been able to garner a community of supporters. Nijo has transformed his facebook page into a platform to tell stories which are fictional, and which always ends with a positive message. Positivity runs as a theme through all of Nijo’s films because he recognizes the significance of a positive attitude. According to Nijo, a positive mindset doesn't mean that we keep our head in the sand while ignoring life's less pleasant situations. Positive thinking just means that we approach unpleasantness in a more positive and productive way. Nijo Jonson believes that our mind space is divided into three fundamental scapes- positive, negative and neutral scape.

In an interview Nijo Jonson said, “We are too quick to judge ourselves as a failure or as a successful person but what we do not realize is that life is a journey and not the final destination. It is filled with momentary failures and successes. It is very important to maintain a neutral mental state through these phases because when our emotions are neither too high or too low, only then can we really live in the present. Living at the moment is the truest form of being alive!”

Production / direction[edit]

Nijo Jonson is a digital filmmaker[27] with more than 1 million following on various social media platforms.  He is rightly called an internet sensation by many and enjoys a celebrity status. That is not all, since the last few years Nijo has embarked on a new journey to make people ‘life ready’ through his social media platform called Nijo+. We live our entire lives wildly guessing and hoping that we do the right thing. No schools ever prepared us to manage our emotions when faced with, personal failures, break ups, office politics, along with many other important but unacknowledged issues. So, rather than just being ‘book ready’, Nijo believes that we must be ‘life ready’ too.

In 2019, Jonson started his short film series and Positive community of people to motivate people. He started releasing his short films on Facebook, Instagram and Youtube. The response is good from people and around 2 million people support him regularly. His community offers advice on reducing stress and improving focus based on Jonson's life experiences.

Personal life[edit]

Jonson, an Indian, grew up in North India with his parents and younger sister. He attended Dyal Singh College, Delhi in India. He lives the life of a family man with his wife Gurpreet Kaur and a 4-year old son.

Life lesson[edit]

According to Jonson,[28] just like a coin, every life situation has two sides too, one which is negatively charged and the other which is positively charged. Whatever you decide in life should be positively driven, for example, you may choose to stay or move out of a relationship but whatever you decide should be positively driven. When you are scrolling through Facebook or Instagram you are bound to come across Nijo Jonson’s videos and you can’t scroll down without taking a look at them, that is because Nijo handpicks stories from real life instances, carefully curates it and produces thought provoking yet subtle films.
