Nikolai Kiselev (Russian: Николай Дмитриевич Киселев; born 29 August 1994) is a professional ice hockey forward, who scored the winning goal in the Ukrainian Hockey Championship in 2020 and won the nation’s best sniper award in 2019. He was born in Russia and played for hockey clubs in Russia, Ukraine, Germany and Kazakhstan, including the Hockey Club Kremenchuk in Ukraine, The Hockey Club Temirtau Kazakhstan, EC Bad Kissinger Wolfe in Germany, Yermak Angarsk and Almaz Cherepovets in Russia.

Early life[edit]

Kiselev was born on August 29, 1994 in Cherepovets to Tatiana Sergeevna Kiseleva and Dmitriy Romanovich Kiselev. Kiselev’s father always wanted to play hockey, but had to leave sports after having an allergic reaction to the Mantoux test. Since then, Dmitriy Kiselev has focused on his son’s career as he took Nikolai to practices and tournaments. He was “the locomotive behind my career,” the younger Kiselev says.

Early coaches[edit]

Kiselev began playing with Nikolai Mikhailovich Kishkin. Kiselev later joined Vladimir Anatololievich Kucherov’s school, a well known coach in the Russian hockey world.

Playing career[edit]

Junior Kiselev played for Team Northwest’s U15 team in the 2008-2009 season, and their U16 team in 2009-2010. Kiselev began his professional career in 2011 with Almaz Cherepovets of the Junior Hockey League (MHL), where he played until 2015.

Senior[edit]

Kiselev played for the Hockey Club Temirtau Kazakhstan during the 2015-2016 season. In 2016, Kiselev joined Yermak Angarsk of the Supreme Hockey League (SHL) where he played for the 2016-2017 season. Kiselev played with EC Bad Kissinger Wolfe in the 2017-2018 season. In 2018, Kiselev joined the Hockey Club Kremenchuk, with whom he played 3 seasons. Kiselev was named as the team’s captain in 2019. In 2020, Kiselev scored the winning goal against Donbass to win the Ukrainian Hockey Championship. On August 20, 2021, Kiselev announced that he was leaving HK Kremenchuk, citing family reasons.

Personal life[edit]

Kiselev and his wife Kristina have a daughter, Eva. Kiselev has a bachelors degree in sports management.
