Steven Nils Smith (born April 17, 1980) is an American author, pastor, and a social media consultant for ministries and various brands. He served as a pastor in several churches across Texas.[1] Currently, he is the Chief Strategist of Social Media and Innovation at Dunham+Company based in Plano, Texas.[2]

Pastor[edit]

After graduating from Texas State University with a degree in Business Management, Smith earned his Masters in Ministry Leadership at Rockbridge Seminary. He served as a pastor for youth, young adults, and online ministry for over 12 years across several churches in Texas.[1][2] Smith most recently served as the Innovation Pastor for Community Bible Church in San Antonio, Texas for six years launching the ministry of OnlineChurch.com.

Consultant[edit]

From 2009 to present, Smith has helped churches, ministries, nonprofits and businesses maximize social media and new technologies to accomplish organizational goals. He has served some of the largest and fastest growing ministries and organizations around the world.[2]

Conference speaker[edit]

With his own blog dedicated to helping churches, ministries, and other organizations maximize the use of social media and technology, Smith has been invited as a conference speaker to thousands of leaders around the world at various conferences and events both in person and online.[3]

Social media strategist[edit]

In 2016, Smith joined Dunham+Company as their Chief Strategist of Social Media and Innovation where he helps their clients create more impact and influence through the latest social media and online best practices with his extensive background in social media strategy, ministry innovation, and online communication.[2][3]

In September 2017, Smith launched a vlog called Social Media Guide. This vlog focuses on leadership, social media, and technology where he uploads a new episode each week.

Social Media Church Podcast[edit]

Smith is the host of the Social Media Church Podcast, a podcast dedicated to helping ministry leaders maximize social media and online platforms for greater ministry impact.[4][5][6]

TVApp.Church[edit]

In March 2015, Smith along with friend Jay Kranda founded TVApp.Church. According to their website, “TV App, powered by Mere Technology, is a powerful distribution platform to help your church setup, manage, and integrate your existing media platforms into our powerful system that does the work for you. Once set up your work is done as our solution seamlessly pushes out your integrated media platforms to multiple connected TV devices simultaneously.”
