Nina Roz

Nina Roz (born 17 July 1993), birth name Nina Kankunda, is a Ugandan female recording artist, fashionista, a model who does ragga, afro dancehall and afro-pop. She was initially signed into the record label called “Team No Sleep,” usually known as the TNS..[1][2]
Background[edit]
Nina Roz was born in the capital of kampala in kibuli mutajazi to a business woman, Lucy Mbabazi and Hajji Gitta Salongo, Nina was born one, though she has other siblings in a household that was filled with music from day one. She has dual heritage of western Uganda and Rwandese blood. Her father comes from Rwanda and she is also a Rwandan by default. She is the only child in her mother and father but with step-siblings with both sides of the parents.
Education[edit]
Nina attended St. Steven’s Church of Uganda which is based in Entebbe Kisuggu[3]. After her primary level, she joined Kakungulu Memorial she later changed and joined Kibuli SS which is also a Muslim school and she finished her secondary level at Mitiyana Trinity College. She later joined the East African University where she was pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration but never got a chance to finish because of financial issues. Nina Roz stepfather Hajji Gita Sulaiman was the pillar of the family and was the person paying Nina Roz’s tuition fee but he fell sick when Nina had just joined campus and could no longer pay for her which made Nina drop out of campus and join the music industry. During her life in school, Nina Roz says she connected more with boys more than girls and she referred to herself as a tomboy.[4]
Career[edit]
Nina Roz started commercial modelling during her vacation in S6 and joined the music industry in 2016. Nina’s height of over 6ft was unique which attracted most of the modelling companies to use her in their projects. She released her successful song, Omuliro. When she joined the industry in 2016 the lovely singer was a friend of Jeff Kiwa, the label owner of the Uganda talent management company called Team No Sleep (TNS), and before she began her solo career, Jeff helped her record her first single. In recent times, Nina Rose changed management to Black Market Records from Sure Entertainment where she is also managed by Daddy Andre along with Bruno K and Angella Katatumba.
In September 2016 Jeff Kiwa took her to producer Shidy Beats who produced her first single titled Oli Mekete which was a collaboration between her and Roden Y Kabako. After the release of the song a video producer called Grate Make gave her an offer to shoot her first video and in October 2016 the video was released[5][6].

Nina Roz introduced to her parents, singer and producer Andrew Ojambo alias, Daddy Andre. Recently, the Mekete singer denied rumours of dating Daddy Andre but they couldn’t mask it when the introduction took place[7]
