Nizan Geslevich Packin
Nizan Geslevich Packin is Business Law Associate Professor at the Zicklin School of Business,[1] at Baruch College, City University of New York. She specializes in Financial Regulation, Ethical Implications of Digital Technologies, Business Law, Consumer Protection Law, Privacy and Information Law.
Packin is also a Forbes Contributor,[2] and regularly publishes commentaries about financial regulation, business ethics, and corporate law related issues. Her ideas in connection with financial regulation have been discussed and cited in media outlets such as the Business Insider,[3] Yahoo Finance,[4] Medium,[5] Coindesk,[6] and Sociable,[7] among others. Packin has also published Op-Eds in outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, American Banker, Newsday, and Bottom Line, appeared on numerous podcasts and programs,[8][9][10] and was featured at CUNY's Thought Leadership Series.[11]
Career[edit]
Before joining academia, Packin practiced law in the New York office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, in the Banking and Corporate Restructuring groups for six years. At Skadden she represented clients in complex Chapter 11 cases, as well as in international business transactions and credit facilities. During her time at Skadden, Packin also won several pro bono service awards for her work, such as the Immigration Equality Annual Safe Haven Award,[12] after successfully representing asylum seekers in the United States. Prior to Skadden, Packin served as a law clerk to Justice Salim Joubran in the Israeli Supreme Court. She also interned at the Federal Trade Commission, and externed for Judge Jack B. Weinstein in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Packin served as a board member on a number of nonprofit organizations, including Union Settlement Association, and Rehabilitation Through the Arts. She is an advisory board member at HYPR – Influencer Marketing Platform,[13] a Yale Cyber Leadership Forum member, and is affiliated with the Haifa Center for Law & Technology, as well ass the Indiana University Bloomington’s Cybersecurity and Internet Governance Ostrom Workshop program.

Packin earned law degrees from Columbia Law School and Haifa University, as well as a doctorate in legal studies from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School.[14] She has also completed an undergraduate degree in economics.

Packin has authored multiple book chapters, including in the Cambridge Handbook of the Law of Algorithms,[15] the Research Handbook on the Law of Artificial Intelligence,[16] and the Electronic Payment Systems: Law and Emerging Technologies.[17] Additionally, Packin’s scholarship has appeared in various academic journals and blogs.
