Noah P. Dillon (born August 2, 1994) is a multi-talented artist based in Los Angeles, California. He was originally from Durango, Colorado. Being from one of the 'Four Corner States' has had much influence on his work, which includes themes such as the liminal and abstract.[1] These themes can be observed in his photography, videography, as well as his music. Rather than simply having a message with his art, he strives to invoke feelings that are often ignored.
Career
Originally, Noah grew up photographing country landscapes such as mountains and animals. Eventually, he moved from his hometown of Durango to Los Angeles to pursue fashion photography. Since then, he has shot for the likes of Nike, Gucci, The North Face, Maison Margiela, and Greg Ross. He has also worked closely with artists such as Luka Sabbat, Virgil Abloh, Kanye West, BROCKHAMPTON, and Yves Tumor.
HOT MESS (2017) was an artistic venture that Noah created with artist Luka Sabbat. They originally met, like most at the time, online on Twitter in 2015. Luka, originally being a fashion model, was fed up with having no creative outlet and created HOT MESS with Noah.[2] To pursue this venture, he moved from Durango to Los Angeles. The purpose of Hot Mess was to perform any creative endeavors they wished.[2] Together they worked with notable fashion brands, created clothes, and launched exhibitions all over the world. In November of 2018, they launched an installation called "FREE ADVERTSING". As the name suggests, they advertised for brands for free. They did this by shooting fake campaigns for selected brands: Celine, Chevrolet, Balenciaga, and The North Face. The campaigns they created had major influence from their own unique creative perspectives. They then bought billboards in Nebraska, Colorado, and Los Angeles, California, and put these fake campaigns on billboards in those states for the masses to see.[3] Their next major endeavor was their exhibition in March 2021 titled "Surfaces" on display at LA's 'Terminal 27'. For this exhibition, they took four tangible surfaces of Los Angeles and preserved then framed them. This may seem rather simple, but they sought to speak to how real estate in Los Angeles is unattainable to most. It provides a tangible symbol of this problem.[4] It is unclear whether HOT MESS is still a collaboration that is still alive or simply on pause, as this was the most recent collaborative venture between the two.
The Hellp (2016) is an alternative electronic/rock band created by Noah P. Dillon alongside Chandler Ransom Lucy and former member Eddie Liaboh. This band was originally started when Noah went on Twitter stating that he wanted to start a band. They met through mutual friends in the LA fashion scene.[5] In the early days of the band, the music mostly resembled classic rock with a modern essence but has since shifted into more of a unique electronic 'indie sleaze'-adjacent sound[6], a sound which is often associated with similar artists 'The Dare', 'Snow Strippers', 'MGNA Crrrta', 'NEW YORK', 'damon r.', 'DRES', and 'Extra Small'. The sound of this band had heavy influence from early electronic bands such as Aphex Twin, Crystal Castles, and as well as Angels & Airwaves. They went on to release their debut album 'Twin Sinner' (since taken off of streaming platforms) in February of 2016. Shortly after this, their guitar player Eddie Liaboh left the band to pursue other life ventures. Since then, Jacob Taff, professionally known as '1$T', has played guitar for the band as an unofficial member, as he has a band of his own. In April of 2021, they released an album named Vol. 1. In October 2021, they released an EP, Enemy. With these releases came great success and accumulated 1 million monthly listeners on streaming platforms, which caught the attention of major record label, Atlantic Records. They were signed to Atlantic Records in January of 2023. They have also played alongside notable artists such as Ecco2K, Yves Tumor, and The Dare. Noah's artistic influences/themes can be observed in both the obscure lyrics and the abstract videography of the music videos. This creative venture allows him to express his art through the mediums of both music and videography.
