Aderinola Adeyemo, known by her stage name of Nola Adé, is a Nigerian-American musician and songwriter with a background as an entertainment lawyer.[1] She released her debut EP, The Love Dance, in 2016 and has since been said to have a voice "like silk" and compared to the likes of Lauryn Hill and Chrisette Michele.[1]

Early life[edit]

Adé was born in Chicago, Illinois.[2] She is a first-generation Nigerian-American. Adé grew up listening to Nigerian gospel, Afrobeats, Chicago-inspired soul music, and jazz. She received private training of the National academy of recording arts and sciences renowned vocal coach, Lyndia Johnson.[2] She attended college at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and law school at DePaul University. While in law school, she was a legal intern at Russell Simmons' Rush Communications in New York City.

Music career[edit]

Adé released her debut EP, The Love Dance, in 2016.[3] It received positive reviews with her style labeled as "classic, effortless, natural soul."[4][1] Her debut single on the album, "Love," highlighted a budding relationship and the second single, "Bittersweet," discusses a lost love.[5]
