The Nordic-Baltic Network for Benthic Algae in Freshwater, or NorBAF, is a network that works with freshwater benthic algae in the Nordic countries, including Scandinavia, the Baltic countries, and Poland. The company produces contacts between educational institutions, research institutions, and non-governmental organizations.

One of NorBAF's main projects is regular diatom intercalibrations with the aim to harmonize diatom identification for biomonitoring among the Nordic/Baltic countries (Quality assessment of biological analyses)[1]
