North Pacific Expeditions
North Pacific Expeditions is an American cruise line that began as an idea of Erik and Aspin Teevin in 2010, and became a physical reality in 2016. Owned and operated by Digital Avionics, Inc.,[4] North Pacific Expeditions is headquartered in Mukilteo, Washington. North Pacific Expeditions will commence cruise operations in Alaska in Spring 2019.
History
North Pacific Expeditions is owned and operated by Digital Avionics Inc., an aviation research and development firm started in 1995 to support the commercial jet aviation industry. Digital Avionics Inc. specialized in ground support equipment that supported several different airplane systems such as fuel and hydraulic quantity indication, electrical power generation, and other avionics-associated analyzers and diagnostic systems. However, as a result of 9/11’s negative economic impact on the airline industry,[5] the Digital Avionics Inc. owners branched out into another sector and created North Pacific Expeditions in 2010.
North Pacific Expeditions was founded to provide small yacht adventure cruises to and around Alaska and also private charters or dinner cruises in the Puget Sound and British Columbia region.[6] The fleet consists of one luxury cruising yacht, M/Y Sea Star.[7] This small ship cruise yacht was designed by J.B. Hargrave[8] of West Palm Beach and built by the Burger Boat Company in Manitowoc, Wisconsin in 1965. M/Y Sea Star (formally “Aquarius”) was the largest all-welded aluminum yacht of its time used by the rich and famous as a pleasure craft.[9] M/Y Sea Star can be chartered for multi-day and overnight excursions for up to 12 guests.
