Northfield are a fictional football team which appeared in the We are United strip (1984-86) of the Bristish comic Champ. The club first appeared in August 1984.
History
It is mentioned that alreeady in the 80/81 and 81/82 season Northfield played in the Second division, but in the Roy of the Rovers universe (official aurobiography).
Northfield played in the Second Division in 83/84. In 42 games they conceded just 34 goals, having the reputation of the meanest team in the country, under manager Brian Rough (a reference to Bryan Clough, at the time at Nottingham Forest). In 84/85 they played in First Division.
