History
As it was mentioned in the We Are United strip, the club won the 84/85 Scottish League Cup (or known as Skol Cup). High-flying striker Gary McGeachie had notched 29 goals that season and forced his way into the Scotland national team. Alongside him was pacey winger Ralphie Kidd. Paul Glennie was United’s captain, was a superb sweeper, who superbly marshalled the defence, while capable goalkeeper Hamish Geddes was between the goalposts. In the summer of 1985 they faced Riverton United in a pre-season friendly in a packed stadium.
