Not In my name (protest In India)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Not In My Name (NIMN) is a campaign and protest conducted by film-maker Saba Dewan through a Facebook post against rising mob violence and cow vigilantism on Muslims and Dalits in India. [1] A lot of people took out a morcha at Jantar Mantar in Delhi and more 16 cities across India, including Mumbai against mob lynching, who were killed 15-year-old Junaid Khan in the name of Gau Raksha (Cow protector) on the suspicion that he was carrying cow meat with him on a train while he was returning home to his Khandawali village in Faridabad for Eid celebrations. The incident took place at Ballabhgarh station in Haryana.[2]

The protest got a wide attention over the social media mainly across the Twitter with the hashtag #NotInMyName trending on top. Many online publishers came forward and showed their favor for the protest.[3][4]

The protest is aimed to stop the attack and mob lynching of the Muslims and Dalits by the 'cow vigilantes' and started after several incidents of mob lynching in the country because of the outrage of people against beef eating.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi later issued a statement against the mob lynching and stated that "Killing people in name of cow not acceptable, Gandhi won't approve" the same day a mob in Jharkhand beat a man to death on the suspicion that he was carrying meat in his vehicle.[5]
